Vocal cord paralysis
Etiology
- Recurrent laryngeal nerve damage: thyroid or other neck surgery, lung cancer, thyroid cancer
- Laryngeal cancer
- Esophageal cancer
- Intubation injury
- Cricoarytenoid arthritis (in rheumatoid arthritis)
- Glottic or subglottic stenosis
- Skull base tumor involving cranial nerves IX, X, and XI
- Idiopathic
