Recurrent laryngeal nerve damage: thyroid or other neck surgery, lung cancer, thyroid cancer
Laryngeal cancer
Esophageal cancer
Intubation injury
Cricoarytenoid arthritis (in rheumatoid arthritis)
Glottic or subglottic stenosis
Skull base tumor involving cranial nerves IX, X, and XI
Idiopathic
