Ebola virus
Ebola virus disease (EVD) caused by infection with a single-stranded RNA virus of the genus Ebolavirus .
Zaire ebola virus (EBOV) first identified in humans in an outbreak in 1976 near the Ebola River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC, formerly Zaire). EBOV has the highest case fatality rate of all the known Ebola virus species.
