- Guillain-Barré syndrome
- Myasthenia gravis
- Botulism
- Parkinsonism
- Huntington’s disease
- Wilson’s disease
- Trauma to cranial nerve V or XII
- Diphtheria
- Macroglossia, eg, amyloidosis, hypothyroidism
