EPIDEMIOLOGY

Incidence

42% of pregnancies in the United States are unintended. Unintended pregnancies are associated with increased risk of adverse maternal and infant outcomes.

RISK FACTORS

Unintended pregnancy: higher rates among women ages 18 to 24 and >40, unmarried women, women with less than a college education, and minority groups
