Mitral regurgitation
Etiology
- Myxomatous degeneration (eg, mitral valve prolapse, Marfan syndrome)
- Infective endocarditis
- Subvalvular dysfunction (papillary muscle dysfunction or ruptured chordae tendinae)
- Rheumatic heart disease
- Dilated cardiomyopathy
- Congenital cleft mitral valve
- Left atrial myxoma (rare)
