- Herpes simplex keratitis
- Ophthalmic zoster
- Fungal keratitis
- Acanthamoeba keratitis
- Contact lenses (especially soft)
- Neurotrophic keratitis (lack of corneal sensation)
- Exposure keratitis (inadequate eyelid closure)
- Severe dry eyes
- Severe allergic eye disease
- Behçet’s syndrome
- Topical steroids
